How To Automatically Close AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition Virus Alert Popups
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkSunday, August 6, 2006
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition has the annoying habit of popping up a virus alert everytime it detects an email virus. There is no way to stop the alert in the free edition (on Windows). It is very annoying and distracting as it requires two clicks to close each of them. Imagine getting few hundreds of them at a time! It happens to me all the time. So I developed a simple windows program to check for AVG virus alert popups and automatically close it. It checks once per second and consumes insignificant cpu / processing power and less than 1MB memory.
I have tested this on AVG Free Edition 7.1.x version.
Download AVG Virus Alert Popup Closer and automatically get rid of your annoying popups forever.
You can execute it from your startup.
Note: I have developed the file and have taken reasonable efforts to ensure it is free from any virus / trojans / malware. I use it myself. I have tested it on Windows 2000 but I expect it to work fine in other versions of Windows like Windows XP.
