According to the statement from Indian IT giant, Infosys Technologies, the hike of H1B visa fees for the technology companies operating in US should be passed to the customers down the road. Infosys Technologies chief executive S. Gopalakrishnan told reporters late Monday that there is a minimal impact of the the new fees in the immediate future on India’s second largest outsourcing firm. He continued that the cost of new visa regulations is going to be $4 million to $6 million approximately because it would affect 2,000-3,000 Infosys employees.
The new U.S. Mexico border security measures were approved by the Senate last week and the sponsor of the bill, New York Democrat Charles Schumer said that the bill was targeted at a particular group of companies who exploit U.S. law to get workers from abroad. The new bill is going to affect 4 Indian companies in US: Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro and Mahindra Satyam. The US House of Representatives are due to vote on the new Border Security bill on Tuesday which is related to the rise of H1b visa application fees. However, Gopalkrishnan feels that India Government will put pressure on US to resolve the issue.
