Non Java Topic: A tribute to the power of internet: The saga of a washing machine

I am the (sick) owner of an Electrolux product, a washing machine EW1045F, which was supposed to be the top of the line product when I bought it.
It had given us trouble all along for three years, been to repair shop for more hours than it probably gave us.

Several complaints to local office and email to Indian HQ (The global HQ is at Sweden) yielded no result. It was taken for repair, spend there a lot of days and finally came back, and then again had to be taken back as the same or other problem happened. This was the repeating pattern. I was very frustrated.

Read about my review on electrolux. Also two other reviews on the product were similar.

Now things started happening. One member suggested that I should send this review to the Eletrolux officials. I went to their site, had a hard time finding an email address to send. Their comment link sends the email to you!! Anyway I figured they would have some PR & officials for handling the press. I struck gold! I send it to a couple of high officials in Sweden, sending them the link of the review and mentioned that lots of people felt it was useful and commented likewsie :)

The same day I got a frantic call from Delhi & was promised a replace the next day. It was one day late. However it finally came. After installation one of the parts were leaking and they had to fix it. Anyway now they were extremely courteous, were literally waiting to serve, a full 180 turn from their previous lackadaisical attitude.
Bottomline: Internet provides simple men ( and women ) a chance to easily get justice by opening up communication channels, by providing peer advice etc.

Dear Sir,

I complian on dtd 30/11/09 for we purchase electrolux fridge 180 ltr single door on dtd 23/01/09. but this product not good till 2 times compreser fuse. regarding this I complian costumer care till date no one coming to see the product and say compreser not in our stock. I heartly request to replance the fredge and give me new one fridge.

Hello,Angsuman,
I desperately need your help to get the email add of these so called ‘HIGH officials’ in Sweden to make a complain.I own an electrolux washing machine which has had a problem for the last 6 months and I am not able to get any customers service from them .All they do is take turns to have a look at it and tell me it needs to be taken for servicing but they do not have a van. Then when I spoke to the team manager, her name was
Shanaz who spoke very badly and refuse to give a managers number to complain to.I went to buy a fridge yesterday and will never in my life touch an electrolux product and ask everyone else never to touch one too.

Hi Angsuman - Thanks for the writing. Me too is a poor owner of an electrolux fridge, which was found damaged from the day I’d purchased it - still fighting with the company to get it replaced.
