Hurd shows new Oracle machine; silent on scandal
SAN FRANCISCO — Mark Hurd showed off a new Oracle data-storage computer Monday in one of his first major public acts as an Oracle employee.
Hurd was forced out as Hewlett-Packard Co.’s CEO last month. He didn’t address that controversy in a talk at Oracle Corp.’s annual conference in San Francisco.
The computer he debuted is part of Oracle’s line of Exadata database and storage machines. It’s part of Oracle’s push to steal business from HP and IBM Corp.
Hurd’s appearance reinforced that he is playing an important role at Oracle despite a lawsuit by HP that tries to block him from working there. He is working as an Oracle co-president.
