Often I come across fellas complaining that their Internet browser has been taken by something. Whenever you try a search on MSN or Google, it takes you to a pornographic site (in most cases). Don’t tell me that’s an apparition . Well no Frankenstein is responsible for that, you are a victim of browser hijack. Most probably you’ve downloaded a nasty program without a hint. These are what you call spyware, also sometimes called adware. I need to make it clear that adware are essentially advertising-supported software. where as spyware are also used to describe spying programs, such as keyloggers. However, here I am with a 5 minutes guide to give you a spyware free experience forever.
There are a number of ways you can adopt to heal the spyware or avoid them from entering your system. Let’s begin with it.
How To Scan and Protect Your System from Spyware and Adware
There are free anti spyware software that can help you to get rid spyware. I’ve got two suggestions.
Spybot
This free anti spyware has long been used against comprehensive database of adware and other system invaders. Scan you system with Spybot. The scan results will be available in an organized tree. So you can sort out the unwanted items and delete.
For instance, even after removing viruses from my laptop, whenever I startup it shows a message windows cannot open C:windowssembako-cgzjplg.exe. That’s where the spyware gets on your head. I’ll tell you what you can do
- Run Spybot - Search and Destroy to find the location of any spyware
- Copy down the locations of the files
- Disable the system restore and reboot in Safemode
- Run the Spybot again. Reboot normally
Spyware Doctor
This is another spyware/adware specialist available for free. It can detect and cleans thousands of potential spyware, ad ware, spy ware cookies and spybots from your PC.
Spyware Doctor is equipped with advanced IntelliGuard technology that offers alert for true Spyware detection. It an important feature that doesn’t generate cryptic questions every time you install software, add a site to your favorites or change your PC settings.
This is significant because you should not be interrupted by cryptic questions every time you install software, add a site to your favorites or change your PC settings. These messages can be confusing. For worse, it may even lead you to install a Spyware. Download the Spyware Doctor and start scan.
Other Important Tips to Keep Your PC Spyware-free
Look Before You Download A Free Software
Internet has a great tradition of free software. No doubt there is nothing better than getting things for free, same with the freeware. Unfortunately, a few of these freeware carry annoying alert messages or irrelevant ads that pops up time to time. So be sure of the software you download.
Do Not Download from Unanthenticated Sources
My friend, the other day tried to download a very popular software called Winrar. As you all know about it already. But, the problem started just after he installed it. Was it Winrar’s fault? certainly no. The place where he downloaded the software from wasn’t good. And so he had to pay the price.
So be very sure of downloading from sources that you don’t know of. Use very well known places as download.com or cnet.com. They also have inbuilt scanners to give you extra assurance before you download your desired product.
Don’t enter the underground site. Web bugs are Watching
The porn sites are spyware-dumping grounds. While you brwose those sites spyware are planted on your PC. Just avoid those sites to keep you system spyware free.
Disable javascripts as Much as Possible
Malicious programmers use Javascript and ActiveX to automatically deliver spyware from a blog. The freely available Javascript program for bloggers also contain hidden Spyware tools. So, be it Firefox or IE, try and disable JavaScript as much as possible. And again, if you get potentially harmless javascripts which promise to do wonderful designs et al to your webpage, DO NOT USE IT. You never know how strongly affecting a javascript page can be.
Only install tool bar from authenticated sources
Most of you like to install different tool bar for ease of use. I’ve seen a lot of people using google tool bar. It is a great tool for checking page rank. Having said that, I need to add that certain toolbars are spyware. If you are not a nerd, it’s better to avoid installing tool bars from unauthentic sources.
Most importantly always follow the prompts before downloading or installing any software.
Good luck!
