LONDON - A British mother is so obsessed with Twitter that she delivered a live account of her entire labour to her friends.
Rachael Ince, 29, sent 104 tweets detailing every step of the birth of her son until she was discharged nearly three days later, reports the Daily Mail.
The tweets began on December 3 evening when Rachael was 39 weeks and two days pregnant.
She was rushed to Leicester Royal Infirmary and eventually gave birth to Elliot Chester, her second son, at 7 p.m. the following day.
Ince tweeted to her 400 followers about her journey to the hospital in the snow, her anxious wait for the contractions to speed up, and the dramatic moment she is rushed into a delivery suite.
“I use Twitter a lot. I use it for my personal life and the birth was a pretty major event in my life,” said Ince, a professional photographer and a native of Birstall, Leicester.
“I thought it might be a good way to document what happened and how I was feeling during the birth,” she added.
The tweets start at teatime on December 3 when Ince tweeted: “Contractions have started. It’s bloody freezing outside. Only a matter of time now.”
After snacking to alleviate boredom in the small hours, she updated her growing band of followers to tell them her contractions were coming every 10 minutes.
“Let’s keep this up baby. Well, less pain and get out quickly please,” she tweeted at 2:24 p.m.
Then at 6.28 p.m. she revealed she was going up to the delivery room as an emergency, after her baby’s heart rate dipped.
She gave birth to her son Elliot at 7 p.m. and at 10.20 p.m. revealed he weighed 7lb 1oz.
“And I was expecting a big ‘un!” she tweeted.
Feeding provided a moment of humour for the new mother.
At 9.14 p.m. on December 5, she tweeted: “Every time this baby latches on to feed, he pulls the same face I would pull if someone put a spoonful of marmite in my mouth. How rude.”
Ince was finally discharged on December 6 afternoon.
“We’re all discharged and ready to go. Lunch for me whilst toddler is at home sleeping then daddy will be in to collect us,” she tweeted at 12.52 p.m. (ANI)
