windows7The word is out. We broke it just when it came out of the horse’s mouth. Windows 7 has always been one of our primary targets in feeding you with all the news, views and releases. This time too, we won’t let you speculate what to do between June to October. Of course Microsoft has concrete plans before final release. and PCWorld has shared them with us. So let me share it with you.

As PCW says,

Microsoft Corporate Vice President Steve Guggenheimer is set to deliver a keynote address at the Computex 2009 conference in Taipei on Wednesday. The address, entitled “Windows Makes Life Simpler,” should provide additional details on how the Windows 7 upgrade program will operate.

Primarily there will be three key parts that Microsoft will address before the red carpet.

  1. Windows 7’s RTM phase is expected to begin in late July or early August. RTM means release to manufacturing. That’s the final phase before the software becomes available to consumers.
  2. Then Windows 7 compatibility center will be launched. Much to our relief, this will be at par with the release of Windows 7 unlike Vista (that came almost 15 months later)
  3. Somewhere around, there will be an upgrade option from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and those of you sick and tired of the present OS can happily upgrade. Though I seriously wonder about the cost.

With these three phases being over, October 22 will come and unveil Windows 7. We will have to wait till then. and if you haven’t really checked the latest version, here it is.
