KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- State based telecom service provider BSNL which once used to be the dominant player in Broadband internet service in the state is facing the heat from the private operators in recent times and it has come up with revamped packages to retain the users. It is resorting to packages with higher speed to increase its user base among various circles in west Bengal. Just within some weeks of increasing bandwidth speeds by twofold for the users availing unlimited packages, BSNL has upped the ante by another round of speed hike. The speed hike however does not come at any extra cost.
The users availing the ULF 900 Plan of BSNL Broadband service stand to gain the most from the new speed hike. The new speed limit is 4 MBps a whopping hike from the earlier 512 kbps. The users using schemes like ULF 1350 and ULF 1000 will enjoy the benefits of higher download limits from now onwards. The entry level broadband speed offered now is 512 kbps a double increase from the earlier limit 256 kbps. The users can also ask BSNL for a static IP address without paying anything extra.
The user changing from dynamic IP address to a static one will be able to access their PCs from literally any place. The need for broadband is also rising with times and BSNL also wants to increase its market share amidst competition from players like Tata Indicom and Reliance Telecommunications. The entity has also started rolling out its wireless 3G service which can be used for high speed wireless web access by the users.
