Harris gets $119M in orders from Defense Dept.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Harris Corp. said Wednesday that it received $119 million in orders from the Defense Department for certain radio systems that will be used in all-terrain vehicles.

The communications and information technology company will supply JTRS-approved Falcon III AN/PRC-152(C) tactical handheld radio systems with vehicular amplifier adapters for mine resistant ambush protected ATVs.

The Defense Department has tapped Harris for a number of contracts, including a Navy contract that was increased by $311.4 million to $897.9 million last month. The pact is for radios for soldiers, as well as support systems.

Shares of Harris added 44 cents to $48.43 in morning trading.
