tiny mp3 player from creativeCreative announced Zen V which offers great features in a tiny, flash-based form factor (about the size and shape of a smooth-cornered Zippo lighter). The player gives you everything you get with the iPod Nano except iTunes compatibility, and adds a few solid extras.

Key features:

  • Support for subscription services (Yahoo Unlimited, Napster-To-Go, Rhapsody-To-Go.
  • FM radio: With headphones plugged in, you can pull down local FM signals (V Plus only).
  • Built-in voice recorder: Click a dedicated record button on the side to start recording; the mic’s on top.
  • Line-in recording: The Zen V can record stereo MP3s at 128 Kbps using an included line-in cable. You could record any CD (even copyright-protected ones) in the absence of a computer as it automatically splits tracks.
  • Video playback
  • Scratch-resistant coating, a significant benefit over iPod nano.

Zen V will be available in July (1GB/$120, 2GB/$150, 4GB/$200), and the Zen V Plus should hit stores in August (1GB/$130, 2GB/$170, 4GB/$230). A number of color options and rubber skins are available.
