Angsuman’s Translator Plugin Pro Version 3.0 - New features & fixes

We are testing version 3.0 of Angsuman’s Translator Plugin Pro for WordPress 2.x blogs. We are overwhelmed by the encouraging response from the WordPress community. After the initial releases we had lots of positive response and feedback on how we can improve this plugin. And we listened to all of your requests. The key features of this new release are:

Choice of translation engine per language

Now you can choose your translation engine for each language. You do not have to rely on our chosen defaults. You can evaluate and choose the best engine for each language. In future we can easily add more engines with this framework.

Choice of translation modes

You can choose between two modes of translation per engine and per language. The first mode is where you send the url to the engine and it returns your translated pages. This is not possible for pages behind corporate firewall.

The second mode is where you send the pages data to the translation engine. It works behind firewall too. Previously it was the only mode supported for non-chinese languages. Now you get to choose.
The page mode is slightly faster but in this mode Google truncates AdSense ads from the translated pages.

Choice of url pre-processing

We pre-process url’s to prevent mangling by the translation engines. You wouldn’t believe how much it can mangle!
However we now provided you with the capability to turn off url pre-processing if you so desire, per language and per engine. It too has its benefits. For example it gives better layout for certain languages in page data mode for K2 layout in Google engine.
We have so far limited this ability to cases which we support and which makes sense.

Multiple domain support

We can now support multiple domains per translator plugin. The key requirement was supporting domain.com as well as www.domain.com. Unfortunately quite a few people uses such duplicate domains for their blog.

Defects fixed

404 error for nice url’s
Translator plugin was properly translating the pages on browser but was erroneously (or more accurately WordPress was) sending a 404 response code which isn’t good for search engines. This has been fixed. Now it sends a 200 response code as it should.

Better support for K2 Theme
K2 Theme is a strange beast. Google translation engine do not particularly like it
However we have provided at least two selectable options for K2 theme users for getting high quality translation with proper layout.

Truncating Google ad’s
Translated pages were being stripped of Google ads. This is a defect with the page translation mode we were using to translate most languages, except Chinese.
You can either wrap your ads within skip translation tags (available in all versions) or now you can choose a different engine or different translation mode. More on it later.

We are in the final stages of testing this release. All reported defects have been fixed and verified. It looks we are all set to release it tomorrow, Wednesday, to all our exisiting customers.
New customers will get this version only as this supersedes the earlier versions.
