Maytag Dishwasher Recall

Maytag was acquired by Whirlpool for $1.8 billion in 2006. According to sources, Whirlpool has set aside $75 million to tackle he the technical defect and cover the total cost of the recall. the models were available at all appliance stores and Whirlpool showrooms. They were sold between 2006 to 2010. the cost of these models ranged between $250 to $900. They came in white, silver, bisque and stainless steel front panels. Maytag has asked all existing users to immediately stop use of the product and keep it unplugged. They have also offered a free in-home repair according to the user’s schedule and also $150 to $200 discount for the people who want to buy replacements.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC) announced the recall on Thursday on behalf of Whirlpool. The Maytag models that have been recalled include Amana, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by and the Crosley brand dishwashers with plastic tubs. The CPSC and Maytag have both released the malfunctioning models serial numbers. The stock of the fell down 3% after the announcement on Thursday.
