NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- New York City dwellers shall now be able to recycle all their electronic products without any charge. Reportedly, New York City has joined hands with 22 American states which have already embarked upon the Electronic Waste Recycling Law.

The Electronic Waste Recycling Law was signed by David Paterson who happens to be the Governor of New York. With the law coming into force, each and every user of electronic goods shall have to recycle their goods and should refrain from dumping the electronic goods in landfills. Speaking on the same note, Natural Resources Defense Council lawyer Kate Sinding told the media that New York city shall be highly benefited with this law. In her opinion this is the most progressive bill that has been passed by the state in recent times. Washington, Minnesota and Oregon were the first of the 22 states which had adopted the electronic waste recycling law.

Each and every electronic goods manufacturer in New York City shall have to recycle the market share of his total electronic waste (calculated in weight). This is in accordance to the three year average stand for all annual sales in New York City. Moreover, the electronic manufacturers shall have to submit annual reports to the Department of Environmental Conservation. The new law adopted by the state and New York City shall include all major electronic equipments like Television Sets, DVD players, MP3 players, all types of Computer peripherals along with the game consoles and the fax machines. New York City Environmental group officials said that such a law should help all electronic products of New York City to reach optimum standards.
