Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, Korea’s two global electronics makers, have reduced their Indian workforce in India, opting instead to outsource its operations to India.
“We work project-by-project, so we move between India and South Korea. We don’t stay here for a long time,” said Joe Antony Lawrence, software engineer from Samsung’s Indian branch.
Lawrence estimates that there are around 1,000 local employees in India with 200 at Samsung’s software center near New Delhi, which was established in 2003. About 100 Indians are currently working in Korea, many of them on temporary projects.
