US woman learns of husband’s second marriage through Facebook

SYDNEY - A woman in the US has revealed that she came to know of her husband’s second wedding through online social networking site Facebook.
Lynn France, 41, came to find out after she typed in the name of the woman she believed was having an affair with her husband, but she was not prepared to see pictures of the Walt Disney World wedding her husband had with the other woman.
“I was numb with shock, to tell you the truth,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Lynn, an occupational therapist from Westlake, a Cleveland suburb, as saying.
“There was like an album of 200 pictures on there. Their whole wedding,” she said.
But Lynn’s husband, John France, claims that his marriage to her was never valid and that she knew about the other marriage, and that she was making the Facebook claim as a publicity ploy.
“I don’t think I was cheating,” he said in an interview aired on August 5 on NBC’s Today show.
“If you have a marriage that’s not right from the beginning, it’s not right at the end,” he stated.
Lynn said she had confronted her husband when she found out he was engaged to the other woman, and she claims he said he wouldn’t actually go through with the wedding.
It wasn’t until she saw the wedding photos that she finally began divorce proceedings.
“People who engage in these sorts of behaviours now have the option of trying to keep things private or turning it into a spectacle and becoming their own reality show,” lawyer Andrew Zashin, a child custody expert who is representing Lynn, said.
“In this case, it seems, the spouse may have crossed the line and gotten married while he was still married,” he stated.
John has further claimed that his wife was “losing the court battle” for custody of their two sons and was using the Facebook story for attention.
His attorney, Gary Williams, issued a statement saying his client is asking a family law court to declare that his marriage to Lynn was “void since its inception” as it was not legal. (ANI)
