wndows7Curtain over Windows 7 RTM would be raised for today. Now on the English version of Windows 7 would be available for MSDN & TechNet subscribers to download. The version would be available in other languages from October 1st. A day after, the Volume License (VL) customers possessing Software Assurance (SA) license will be able to download the Windows 7 RTM in English using the Volume License Service Center (VLSC). As the countdown to Windows 7 release nears all of you must be getting hyper to have your hands on Microsoft’s much coveted and hyped Operating System.

Here’s the list of timeline for Windows 7 release to get the final RTM code

Partners

August 6th - Windows 7 would be available for download via Microsoft Connect and MSDN for ISV (Independent software vendor) and IHV (Independent hardware vendor) Partners.
If you are a partner who has been working on Windows 7 RTM, it’s the right time to complete your testing with final version of Windows 7. Partners who have not started with Windows 7 now is the time to get involved.

August 16th - The Microsoft Partner Program Gold/Certified Members will be able to download Windows 7 RTM in English through the Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) Portal. The version would be available in remaining languages from October 1st.

August 23rd - Windows 7 RTM in English would be available for Microsoft Action Pack Subscribers to download.

OEMs

The OEMs are scheduled to receive Windows 7 RTM software images nearly 2 days after the RTM is officially announced. This would offer them time begin preparing for images for new PCs that are to be shipped with Windows 7.

Business Customers

August 7th - The Volume License (VL) customers with an existing Software Assurance (SA) license will be able to download Volume License Service Center(VLSC). After a few weeks, Windows 7 RTM will be available in rest of languages.

September 1st - The VL customers without a SA license would be able to purchase Windows 7 though Volume Licensing.

IT Professional

There are certain exclusive ways IT professionals can get Windows 7 RTM.

August 6th - Windows 7 RTM in English available for TechNet subscribers to download. For remaining languages the release date would be October 1st.

Those IT professionals with VL can follow the dates above.

Further, Microsoft would also be releasing the an evaluation of Windows 7 Professional for IT Professionals via the Springboard Series

Developers

August 6th - Those developers with MSDN subscription will be able to download Windows 7 RTM in English. The remaining languages by October 1.

Windows 7 Family Pack

There was rising demand from beta testers and enthusiast to provide a family pack of Windows 7 to be used in homes with multiple PCs. Microsoft has responded to it positively by offering a family pack of Windows 7 Home Premium, which could be installed on up to 3 PCs.

Beta Testers and Enthusiasts

Microsoft had offered a Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional at almost 50 % discount price, especially with beta testers in mind.

Customers

Now you are not a TechNet subscriber and waiting for GA you might continue to use the RC. You can carry on using the RC edition until it expires on June 1st, 2010 (expiry March 1, 2010).

October 22nd - Ultimate the end-users will be able to get Windows 7 in retail stores and would be shipped with new PCs.

In case, you have pre-ordered for Windows 7, it is supposed to be delivered sometime around October 22nd.
