Adding Quotations to Blog
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkSaturday, August 13, 2005
I have started displaying interesting quotations (starting with my favorites from Dr. Albert Einstein) on this blog, and my other blogs too, at the very end of the page.
There are dozens of random quotation plugins available for displaying quotations. I decided to use my AdRotator plugin for this.
AdRotator displays an advertisement (which is randomly selected from a group of advertisements specified in a text file) at your chosen location.
The benefit of using this plugin is that it allows you to flexibly choose a file to display your Ads or random quotations (in this case) from. So you can use several files to display your ads at different locations or to display one or more quotations at one or more locations.
To achieve this (the plugin was already activated and used to display my ads) I created a file quotes.txt with my quotations (one per line) and uploaded it to my wp-content directory. Then I modified my template to include the line (below) to display quotations randomly:
<?php echo getad(’quotes.txt’); ?>
That’s it.
You can see it in action at the very bottom of this page.

I recently came across your site. It contains a lot of good info. However, it is getting too crowded, and confusing to read. Way too many ads! |
