Brit man becomes first person in the world to sell house on Twitter

LONDON - A British man is said to have become the first person to sell his house on social networking site Twitter.

Peter Bouvier, 33, revealed that he got so fed-up waiting for buyers that he ditched his estate agent and turned to the social network site, and within days was swamped with emails and phone calls from house hunters.

He offered the two-bed terrace for 171,500 pounds, and ended up saving a fortune in fees and commission payments.

“I can’t believe how easy it was to sell it without an estate agent,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

“We had so many viewers who had all seen our house online and it’s all thanks to Twitter,” he said.

NHS worker Bouvier put the Southampton home up for sale when his wife Abigail became pregnant with their second child.

The couple planned to move to Liverpool to be close to their families. But they only had a handful of viewers in six months.

So Peter created his own webpage to advertise the house and posted it on Twitter.

“The first time we put the house up for sale we did it with a local estate agent but it seemed a waste of money,” he explained.

“I had just started to Tweet and decided I would try to save us some cash by selling it online.

“We received emails from all over the world. More than 30 people came to view,” he added.

The home was sold to a woman who lived around the corner, and the couple are now renting while they find a house in Liverpool. (ANI)
