NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The rising concern over the privacy issue of the social networking website “Facebook” has led many ardent fans of Facebook to say it a quit. Not only many celebrities and bureaucrats but also many common people are deleting their profile from the Facebook reportedly. However, if they are deleting their profile from Facebook then it would be wrong to think that the ex-Facebookers are thinking of restraining themselves from socializing anymore on web. According to the latest reports a group of programmers are already planning to create an alternative to Facebook named “diaspora“. The reports also claim that the group which is looking for fund to carry the project further has already started receiving support from many and has been able to gather $100,000 till date.

The group of programmers belongs to the New York University and is trying to create such a social networking website that will provide the users with the maximum freedom to control their privacy settings. The “diaspora“, according to the group will be “an open source personal web server that will put individuals in control of their data.” Reports claim that the group which tried to raise the fund for the work through a fund raising platform on web named “Kickstarter”, expected to raise $10,000 till the beginning of June. There are still 16 days to go and the group has been able to gather much more than its expectations.

However, as the fund for the “diaspora” increases, the pressure on the group of programmers who have thought to launch the competitor website of Facebook also increases. From the type of response that “Diaspora” has generated there is no doubt that people are looking for an alternative.
