WASHINGTON - If you think that sites like Facebook are only for fun, you need to have second thoughts- a Texas mother who had not seen her son for more than four years is crediting Facebook for helping her reunite with her child.
The gloomy mother, Lorena Perez, had last seen her son, Isaiah Jeremiah Vaquear, four years ago.
The boy’s father, Joseph Vaquera, took him without her permission from the family’s San Antonio home in 2006.
According to the authorities, earlier this month, a woman who had once dated the child’s father spotted a photo of Isaiah on a Facebook page for missing children and alerted the police who later reunited Perez and Isaiah.
“I was crying, happy tears. He gave me a hug and he says, ‘Mommy, I want a happy meal,” ABC News quoted Perez as saying.
While announcing the reunion, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office said that Perez was unable to register any charges against the father because no custody orders were ever put in place.
“Children should not be used as pawns in domestic disputes,” said Jane Waters, the district attorney’s Family Criminal Law Division Chief.(ANI)
