How to stay focussed (on a task)

Fellow blogger laments: “But it isn’t really the blog that annoyes me, it’s my lack of concentration and my inablity to stay focused. This weakness shows in almost all facets of my life. For example I do 5 different sports and want to be good at all of them.”
We all face the same problem time to time. Specially when too many things are on the mind, it becomes specially hard to stay focussed on a single task.
Here are few things which works for me. If you find it useful, I would consider this late night blogging effort successful, let me know.
1. Do a realistic analysis of the situation and identify what you can address.
Often when several things are pressing for your attention, you will find that there are somethings beyond our control. We can only worry about it, nothing more. However there are few things we can address, even if it doesn’t help/solve the main issue.
2. List problems that can be solved.
Make a list. Ticking off items from the list is a great confidence booster.
3. Prioritize on things you can address.
Again with a small list of things you can address, we still need to find out the ones we want to or have to address first. It is not always the most important thing you may want to address. Often when your confidence is seriously lacking you may find it safer to address something which is relatively important and can be addressed easily by you. Every bit of completed work counts more then any amount of unfinished business.

Thanks for you’re tips. Most of what you suggest, is addressed by the getting-things-done-methodology, which I try to use. If you like take a look at https://www.jroller.com/page/janvl76/Weblog |
