LONDON - British people who feel lonely are ‘buying’ friends for social networking sites to look popular online.

They are buying bulk packages of 1,000 ‘pals’ on Facebook and Twitter for 125 pounds.

Net company Usocial, which offers the ‘virtual pals’ packages, said that it’s business boomed over Christmas and the New Year.

“Social networking sites can be cruel if you’re unloved - they show exactly how popular you are,” the Sun quoted Boss Leon Hill, 24, as saying.

“People are buying pals so they have more mates to chat to, rather than sitting alone on their PCs,” Hill added. (ANI)
