Threat against Serbian president on Facebook
BELGRADE, Serbia — A public prosecutor says a threat against Serbia’s pro-democracy president that was posted on Facebook must be taken seriously.
A previously unknown group posted the threat against President Boris Tadic saying, “Tadic, a bullet-proof Mercedes won’t help you. When you open the door, a sniper awaits you.”
Public prosecutor Sasa Radulovic said Tuesday authorities have opened an investigation to identify those who posted the threat on the social networking site.
Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic says police will ask the Facebook management in the U.S. for help in providing the I.P. addresses from which the threat was posted.
Serbia’s first pro-democracy Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic was assassinated with a sniper shot in March 2003 outside Serbian government headquarters by former Serb paramilitaries after similar threats were published by an opposition newspaper.
