Palm sized arsenic detector!

KOLKATA: Think the water you drink may be contaminated with deadly arsenic? A team of budding engineers claim to have the answer. They have invented an electronic arsenic detector that is handy, and cheap enough to be a fixture in every home.
“All you need to do is pour a chemical in a glass of water under the sun. Then, dip an electronic chip in the water. If the arsenic content is above the WHO limit, the detector will show it,” said Satyajit Chakrabarti, director of Institute of Engineering and Management at Salt Lake.
“It’s cost effective too. A pouch of the chemical costs just Rs 5 and the electronic detector doesn’t cost more than Rs 500,” said research team leader Pinaki Dasgupta. The college will soon apply for a patent.

Dear Sir, I am in my final year pursuing B E - E C E at Salem in TamilNadu. As our final year project, we propose a model that automates the removal of arsenic in drinking water. We feel that the palm sized arsenic detector will help us implement our project successfully. Can you get us the quotation for the same? Thanking You, J Henry Alex |
