New York (GaeaTimes.com) The Fourth of July was celebrated by Google with a live Google Doodle, this time with a Rube Goldberg Machine. After the live Pac man logo they brought in to celebrate the Pacman’s 30th Anniversary on May 22nd, they came up with the live Rube Goldberg fireworks contraption to celebrate the Independence Day. The logo played as a tribute to both Rube Goldberg and also to July 4th with an American Flag. Apart from the flag you can see a tipped over barbeque, a shower of red blue and white stars with a spangled rocket. You have to click on the arrow to get the animation going. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the Google Doodle in action in the following video.

The animation can also be viewed on iPhone or iPad which are not compatible with flash. This is because the animation is built using Java and HTML scripts. The game Pac-Man featured on the 30th Anniversary of Pacman was also built with the same technology and was played in devices that do not support Adobe flash.

Rube Goldberg was Jewish American cartoonist, best known for his machines that were deliberately over engineered to perform a very simple task in a complex manner. The machines usually worked in a chain reaction manner. He was also a good sculptor, author, engineer and inventor. He won many awards including a Pulitzer Prize for his political cartooning. Goldberg was a founding member and the first president of the National Cartoonists Society.
