BIG GAINS: Both software company Qlik Technologies Inc. and 3-D movie technology provider RealD Inc. soared more than 20 percent on their first day of trading.
SPILLOVER: Their performance could boost interest in other IPOs after a rough second quarter, when 17 companies had to cancel offerings due to lack of interest.
PRICING PRESSURES: Qlik and RealD priced above expectations, which has happened in only 12 percent of IPOs this year.
