There is a Dream that is India - Its High Time that We Live it

November 26, 2008: 200 people were killed and more than 327 injured in terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

October 30, 2008: 77 people were killed and more than 150 people were injured in Assam blast.

March 12, 1993: 257 people were killed in a blast in Mumbai

11 July 2006: 209 people were killed during the serial blasts in local trains of Mumbai

And there are more. Within two months, We have seen 300 Indians murdered by terrorists and every day we have prayed to God, “please, no more.” Is this the price to pay to be an Indian? Is this why we proudly proclaim ourselves as a citizen of a country that is aspiring to be amongst the most influential countries in the world? Let us not brew the coffee; its time to spill the beans now. But the question is

What should India do?

What options do we have as an Indian?

Declare a War?

After this terror attack in Mumbai, so many terror links with Pakistan have come out, that even Ministry of Pakistan(Terror?) has stopped asking for proper evidences. You can read IndianExpress and you can read Rediff and hundreds of other articles on the internet. Its been long since Kargil war and Pakistan hasn’t done absolutely anything to stop training, nurturing and harboring terrorist. They never ever had any answer to terrorists’ link to ISI either.

If India wages a war against Pakistan this may sound as the most lucrative proposal for many and can count humongous number of followers. But Pakistan is a nuclear country now and they wouldn’t wait before turning up with the deadliest weapons to strike against India under slightest of provocation. India will retaliate. The very cost of nuclear warfare is too much to be experienced again. We have seen that in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A nuclear option should be used as the very last resort. Are we there yet?

The Need of the Hour

  1. To ask RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) to be sharper and have a better penetration to reach the roots of these problems. If it is possible for ISI to get into the heart of India, why can not and should not RAW?
  2. To make politicians behave more strongly, insisting on Pakistan’s policy against terrorism, questioning them of obvious links and asking them to come out with better answers than “we will fight this terrorism hand in hand with India ” or some other glorified PR nonsense.

Internal Security of India

Before going into blaming other nations we should look at us. We are a country fighting to emerge at the top of the world and look at our security. We had our financial capital’s EIGHT (not one, not two but eight!) places hijacked by terrorists. They just marched in with an arsenal which can give even best of the infantries to run for their money. We had incidents where in our Capital Delhi, seven bombs were implanted and our IB knew nothing.

Defense Budget for Last 5 Years

For fiscal year 2008-09, India’s defense allocation has increased by 10 per cent over the previous year’s allocation of Rs. 96, 000 crores, and by little over 14 per cent compared to last year’s revised allocation of Rs. 92,500 cores. In the last five years, the defence budget has increased by nearly 37 per cent from Rs. 77,000 crores in 2004-05.

Deprived Indian Army Men

So even if the military is strengthened, where is the reflection of that? Though the graph looks glorified and rising, let me present you with another piece of information. Most of the brave Jawans in Indian Army are unhappy with their salary structure and rightfully so. If you go through this news you yourself will question, those who sacrifice their whole life to secure ours, don’t they deserve better - a better salary, better facilities? Till how long will the politicians undeservingly milk India for their personal benefits? As long as this trend will continue, more people will feel reluctant to come and serve for a country that doesn’t even bother to feed them back, even declining pretty moderate packages.

Home Ministry and IB

We have had our home minister Shivraj Patil and we have seen how cleanly he has come out and condemned every act of terrorism as if that is the only way to take actions and then what happened? A commission was formed and no results followed. The Government administrators always looked for some terrorists organization to accept that they have done it and surprisingly when one leader has put his hands up, our Govt. have given them the trophy, like as in, see they have done it and now we are at peace!

But how can we forget  Shaheed (Martyr) Major Sandeep UnniKrishnan, Shaheed (Martyr) Deputy Inspector Baburao Sahibrao and hundreds of countrymen who were murdered and thousands others who were wounded? Should we stop at that?

India- A Terrorists’ Sweetspot

We have seen our financial capital Mumbai being attacked two times in recent past, we have seen our capital Delhi being targeted a couple of times and there are more fresh news always. How sarcastic it is that almost no city has been spared from the terrorist attacks and the administration could do NOTHING against this! Every time our countrymen have been killed, our Jawans have sacrifised their lives and each time they have come up with yes we are looking into the matter type of press conferences.

USA is not the most powerful country in the world by a fluke. Look at USA now. After the shocking 9/11 incident, they have successfully patched all the vulnerable points and they have shown us that it is not impossible to defy terrorism if you have good intentions and good plans. The rest of the analogy is left to you to understand.

The Role of Politicians in India

No matter how much I write in this issue, I guess the best perspective is to let every reader comment on their personal lives and how they were touched by them who take the oath to protect us and help us prosper.

There are so many incidents and I will state a few from the recent Mumbai terror attack only. When I saw the face of Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharasthra, I saw no apathy. Sorry to say but I saw nothing excepting some calculated and diplomatic politician speaking up and going through the factual records of deaths and woundeds as if he is dealing with cements and bricks! I have heard politicians are good actors. But even that couldn’t touch the heart of someone who is 1800 KMs away from the spot and is still worried about his fellow countryman more than what the CM looked and perhaps was.

Every one knows about the incident happened at Major Sandeep UnniKrishnan’s house. That brave man died for his country and just because the honorable CM of Kerala wasn’t greeted with the same kind of glory and flowery arrangements to which he is used to in front of the media, Kerala chief minister V S Achuthanandan “If not for Sandeep’s house, not even a dog would have gone there.”

Value of Indians in India

How many more instances should I give you? The most farcical point I have heard several times this week is, Oh Taj! Why can’t we care less about a heritage building and concentrate on countrymen? When will the politicians and administration of India will give value to the lives of Indians? Do you need another 500 dead bodies? perhaps 1000? perhaps another Hiroshima? Its a shame that I have heard Oh Taj and Oh Mumbai at least five times more than a notable face saying Oh, people!

We, The Indians

Today if we talk about these issues we can provide hundreds of other instances, tons of more cases but the point is we need to think beyond this. None but we, the people can do it. Yes we can bring in change chanted USA a month ago and that is to be their mantra to come out of the great depression. Why can not we? Why can not we think of changes where everyone could and should contribute to this country? A place where politicians have to be answerable, Intelligence has to be sharper and people have to be more aware. Do whatever it takes, be righteous individually, try to change yourself and you will see that the system is changing. Exercise your voting rights; if all of us vote for righteousness then the right person gets elected. Can’t we see that in Barack Obama? We must believe that we can and this is the high time.

There is no point in saluting the flag and honoring the national anthem if you don’t feel you are an Indian from inside. Please stand up when you feel the urge to transform the energy of Jana Gana Mangala Dayak Jaya He.. and then only India can live the dream that we see. In this hour of crisis let’s not make this an article that was read, that inspired and then was forgot. India needs me, India needs you. Together We and only we have the power to take India out of this. Let’s give all of us a present that is pleasant and a future that is India. Wish you all a very happy and safe new year.

Jai Hind!
