Top 10 Twitter Apps for iPhone
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkTuesday, December 23, 2008
Twitter and iPhone need no special mention in the world of all the technocrat and geeks and socializers. The other day we talked about 7 must have twitter clients for iPhone. Today, I thought it might be useful if I give you a list of twitter apps for iPhone to help you use your twitter in a better way. So without further ado let’s bring ‘em on.
1. Tweetie
Yes I know its not free. It costs you $3. But if you are looking to use Twitter in a serious way, there is no better application than this. Tweetie has everything in one app, including multiple accounts, favorites, deleting, following, trends, location, re-tweets, photos and more. Its super fast amd well worth the money.
2. Tweetsvile
Tweetsvile is another app that works well with twitter. There is no point in mentioning what it has but it has a serious short-coming with the likes of location based functionality. The overall presentation is polished yet refined, with a simple box-style list layout or the option to change this to a Tweetie/iChat style bubble design. But with $4 to spare for this app, I will rather have a second thought if they don’t add some more features or cuts the price.
3. Twittervision
Twittervision is a free app and shows you a world map for people around the world. You can watch people live in any country using Twitter. Though you may ask about the reason for existence of such a function, I found it amusing. Try it, its free.
4. Gyazickr
This app is for those who like to share their photos with other twitter friends. Take a snap through your iPhone and post it to twitter directly through Gyazickr. Do not go by its name. Its cool and effective.
5. Twitfire
Twitfire is a free app that intends to do just what its name suggests. Twitfire quickly posts information to twitter from iPhone. The app incorporates a mini-browser for posting links, GPS-button for location tweets and access to the iPhone camera for posting photos. The interface is very minimal.
6. Mobypicture
It is another photo hosting and posting tool for twitter from iPhone. In your moby account, you can enter your Twitter information and select the option also post to Twitter as soon as you’ve send a posting to your Mobylog it will also be posted to Twitter, using a link to you Mobylog and the text you’ve entered with the message and it’s automatically distributed to your friends. Its cool and effective.
7. Twapper
Twapper lets you monitor Twitter feeds from your phone’s browser—a nice alternative to constant SMS alerts. Twapper, designed for mobile browsers, lets you view (and bookmark) the messages from any Twitter user.
8. Fring
is a well known mobile application that not only lets you easily communicate with all your Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk and regular phone contacts, but also with your Twitter friends from one, integrated contact list. You can save on your SMS bill, since Fring works with Wi-Fi too (which I have set up in my office) and right now I just got a tweet from a friend! Coincidence!
9. Abiro
It is a tiny Twitter client for mobile phones. You can list messages or users, view friends, public and user timelines and send direct messages.
10. Jott
Jott for iPhone is a mobile notepad for the iPhone that turns your voice into notes and capture your to-dos quickly. It transcribes your voice into text and places the resulting notes in your lists. When you complete items, just cross them off with a swipe of your finger. It also makes backup.
11. Bonus App: Loopt
Loopt is a friend-tracking application that integrates with iPhone’s GPS and touch-screen camera technology in a rich, immensely usable native application. Loopt also supplies mapping, directions, and restaurant reviews using Microsoft Virtual Earth and Yelp. Directions are instantaneously mapped on Google. So if you wanna know about your fellow twitterers in the neighbourhood, very few are as good as Loopt.
- Happy with ‘em all or do you wanna mention anything else? Write to us. Ciao!

Nice article! I think the Twitter client landscape has changed in 2010. New approaches and design strategies have yielded some remarkable new Twitter clients. TvvitterBug 1.3 is currently in the approval process for release on the App Store this week. This release brings together the culmination of all the features, capabilities, and functionality most sought after in an iPhone/iPod Twitter App, including: 1. All of the power you want, without the complexity you don’t. I think your readers would be interested in learning more about TvvitterBug from your review. |

[...] Twittering or using Facebook is easier than ever using the dozens of apps available. Why should one turn on his PC and sit in front of it to converse with his friends when he can do it on the go. Not only me but many of those on facebook or twitter find it faster and easy to add friends or sending a messages from iPhone because of the very simplified interface that it provides. [...] |
