Fred Lawrence of Racine, a 67-year-old man who doesn’t even like watching movies was sued, seeking as much as $600,000 in damages, by the film industry - MPAA for “copyright infringement” because his grandson apparently downloaded 4 stinking movies using iMesh, a popular free P2P software.

The suit was filed after Lawrence refused a offer in March to settle the matter by paying $4,000.

This seriously stinks.

No normal human being can keep tab on all activities of his son, leave alone his grandson.

It appears to be a general strategy where you threat innocent guardian’s with huge lawsuits and then milk them as much as you can. What a rotten way to do business.

With the negative publicity they are getting I wonder if lawsuits would the only way for them to make any money in near future.

Personally I would refrain from buying products of any artists associated with MPAA.
