Apple has launched its promotional campaign in school offering the Mac-buying students with iPod Touch at no additional cost. For years Apple has been the favorite with students and schools. With its annual gift, Mac is setting groung to allure the students for its chic white MacBook. This year the students and teachers who are aspiring to buy any Mac, other than a Mac Mini or a refurbished model, and an iPod Touch would get a $299 online rebate, which is the price for a 8 GB iPod Touch.
In order to qualify for the iPod promotion, the purchases have to be made before Sept. 8 and the potential buyers need to submit their claims for rebate within Oct 8. What’s more, apart from the promotion the entry-level white MacbBook has been upgraded with faster processor and increased storage capacity. The $ 999 notebook will come with 2.13-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up from 2.0 GHz; and a 160-GB hard drive instead of 120 GB. Moreover, the laptop has a faster memory of 800-MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
Although the recent testing by Consumers Reports places MacBook at the top of all laptop categories, what irks is the price that is 3 to 4 times higher. Still what remains, is that in this period of recession when people are on budget, Apple has to convince the students and teachers that MacBook assures value for their money.
