BMC Software, US Airways, Target are big movers
NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

BMC Software Inc., up $1.40 at $39.52
A Credit Suisse analyst upgraded the software maker because of a lucrative partnership with Cisco Systems Inc.
US Airways Group Inc., up 73 cents to $7.55
Shares of the airline and of UAL Corp.’s United Airlines surged on news the two were talking about combining.
Forest Laboratories Inc., down $4.47 at $27.99
Federal health experts sided against the company’s lung disease treatment because of potentially dangerous side effects.
J.C. Penney Co., down $1.81 at $30.98
The department store’s March sales at stores open at least a year didn’t match the double-digit increases seen by some competitors.
Target Corp., up $1.63 at $55.64
The cheap-chic retailer’s strong March sales led it to boost its earnings outlook, topping analyst expectations.
Compellent Technologies Inc., down $4.54 at $13.02
The data storage company said its first-quarter revenue will fall short of Wall Street estimates because of delays in large orders.

Hot Topic Inc., up 78 cents at $7.84
