Credit crunch bride has best wedding in 99 pence eBay dress

LONDON - While most brides would spend a lot on their wedding, recession-hit Brit Suzanne Daniels has shown that one can have the best even if it comes at 99 pence, and is from shopping website eBay.

Daniels, 24, a PE teacher from Coniston, in the Lake District, wanted a traditional ceremony for her nuptials with Stuart Walker, 32, and she did not want to spend a fortune.

So she logged on to online auction and shopping website eBay and found her “dream dress”, and to her amazement she won the bid for it, including insurance and postage, the frock came to 86 pounds.

“It was just I didn’t want to spend a fortune on the wedding because it’s more about the marriage. We just wanted the basic things that meant something to us,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

“It was the first time I’d ever used eBay and I just put in a bid for 99p,” she said.

The dress, made to measure in China, features a long halter neck style gown embroidered with jewels and a veil.

“I can’t for the life of me remember what the name of the shop was. I had to email the lady in China my sizes and it was made to measure,” she said.

The size eight gown arrived three weeks later, and after a seamstress had taken it up “just a bit”, it was “perfect”.

“As soon as I saw it I fell in love with it,” Daniels recalled.

“Now it’s just waiting for a good wash and hanging in the wardrobe. I will keep it, just for memories,” she said.

Along with the dress she carried a bunch of pink and white roses, and it was a hit with the 70 guests at St Andrew’s Church, where the pair wed.

“Lots of people commented on the dress, thinking it cost thousands of pounds,” she said.

The newlywed admitted that her new husband hadn’t expected her to walk down the aisle in a “dress like that”.

“He loved it. He was especially pleased that it didn’t cost thousands. I couldn’t have wished for a better day,” she added. (ANI)
