First Demo: iPad jailbreak Video

Just within a day of its formal release in US, jailbreak community is up with the jailbreak for iPad. Musclenerd, an iPhone Dev Team member has succeeded in obtaining root access to Apple’s tablet. He confirmed the jailbreak in a video showing the procedure. The jailbreak is purely a developmental hack with no revelation on how it works. The iPad jailbreak is based on the lines of iPhone break called Spirit, written by a developer Comex. We could expect to see a functional consumer grade hack sooner.
Jailbreak for iPad OS 3.2 using Spirit works on a similar trick as iPhone 3.1.3. iPhone Jailbreak with Spirit involves surfing on to a particular Web site using the internal browser Safari. When you grant the site permission to jailbreak the phone, it takes advantage of a bug found in the browser to gain root access to the device. The same bug works for iPad OS 3.2 and there could be an easier hack for iPad. What’s unique is that its the first iPad jailbreak within short span of its release. We can wait to see Apple fix the loop holes in the next security update.
