From Corporate Czars to Farmers, India, US Join Hands

Since India has agreed to not share it with other countries, the US will now help grow India’s Nuclear technology, although details are still sketchy.

Buried under “Disaster relief”:
“Indian and US militaries will conduct ‘‘joint and combined military exercises’’. US Pacific Command and the Indian Integrated Defence Staff will be the military leads in establishing ‘‘a dialogue and identify additional military training needs’’ and ‘‘other challenges to a speedy and effective disaster response’’.
[hard to argue with that angle; same shtick US uses with FEMA and martial law prep internally]

Although, the Indian left is still kicking and screaming about it, I think the American economic carrot will seduce India into becoming a major part of the US military stick in Asia.

The Indian left will make sure that the US gives in on nuclear tech, satellite launches, and maybe UNSC membership. However, on the last point, Condi Rice appointed a Pakistani woman to be the point-person on Indian UNSC membership, which smells bad to Indians.

If any one issue could scuttle the US-India gun fest, it’s the US need for Pakistan to not go AWOL in the war.

This editorial thinks that the economic angle will be the principal avenue of advance and dismisses the rest.
