How To Purchase Dell Computers Without Windows Vista & Microsoft Software

I had a hard time in selecting a Dell configuration from their website without Microsoft Windows Vista or other Microsoft software. We are a Linux house and have no need for Microsoft products on our machine. As a technologist and a software architect if I found it hard to figure out how to strip Microsoft from Dell computers, I am sure so will you. Read on to find the hidden Dell computers without Microsoft software.
1. In any featured products page including the front page you should click on Product Details instead of Customise.
2. This brings up a popup with the details on the system (like Dell Vostro Mini Tower).
3. Now click on Customize button in this popup located in top-right or at the end.
4. This brings up another products page for that line of desktop. Click on Customise & Buy for the first item on this list and you are likely to see that it comes with DOS Operating System as the base system.
Follow the steps carefully as even a slight deviation will lead to a page where Windows Vista comes as standard and cannot be removed. Removing Windows Vista isn’t simple.
So if you are intending to purchase a system without Windows, you are restricted to the configuration offered by the first system for a desktop line only.
I had to call customer service to figure it and had some luck along the way as she didn’t have much clue either.
Did I mention that soon after I received a call from Microsoft inquiring about Windows usage in my company and that I should look into installing Windows for new machines.
