THE NEW FEATURE: The ability for Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPad to run more than one program at a time. Rivals already offer this, and iPhone owners have long sought it.
COMING SOON: This summer to iPhones, this fall to iPads.
THE FINE PRINT: Not for older models. You’ll need the iPhone 3GS, which came out last year, or the iPad, released Saturday. It also works with the iPod Touch, but only on the models that came out late last year.
