The War Against Nature

I was feeling sick and tired reading the sad reports on the death and devastation initiated by Katrina and the lawlessness, lack of timely help and administrative apathy that followed it. And then it struck me. We are going to see another war. This time it is war against Nature, no less.
9/11 massacare was (blatantly?) leveraged by Bush to launch his “war against terror”, a rhetoric-laden excuse for starting war against Afganistan and Iraq (oilgate?).
While the “war” was on terrorism hasn’t reduced (in fact terrorism tripled last year), Bush was also covertly waging a war against nature. He has taken several steps to ensure greater US participation in polluting nature, promulgated anti-environmental policies, propagated strange fibs for undermining anti-pollution efforts wrt. co2 levels etc.
Now his ratings are dropping again to never before seen depths and his “efforts” in New Orleans is “Not acceptable”.
I think it is now the right time and occasion for him to officially launch - The War against Nature. He should finally go public with his efforts and win public approval. I am sure anything the “Messiah” does will be well approved.
He can very well repeat his often quoted gems like - “You’re either with us or against us” in the war against nature. He can surely enlist the help of his lackeys like Blair. No more French fries for American’s again.
Patriotic as American’s are they will surely (again) support their President in the new war against nature. After all look how much damage nature is doing to his ratings, not to mention those pesky environmentalists!
And the democrats will be forced to support the war and yet argue over some minor points or state that they can actually do it more efficiently etc.
All in all it is a sad state of affairs.

I have been watching the language of the Administration and the media. The term “against nature” has come up over and over again. There is definitely a “war against nature” as you put it but I think the administration will try to appear less warmongering by calling it the “GLOBAL STRUGGLE AGAINST MOTHER NATURE.” Regardless of what they call it the campaign has been in effect for decades and we have global warming as well as mass extinction of wildlife to show for it (not to mention cites built below sea level). Such struggles against mother nature instead of working in partnership with her will showcase human bravado and hubris at its finest (a specialty of the Bush Administration) and will result in many more tragedies. |
