Thumbplay appoints Apple exec as technology chief

NEW YORK — Thumbplay Inc., a company that provides content such as music and games for cell phones, said Monday it has named Apple Inc.’s Pablo Calamera its first chief technology officer.

The privately held company said Calamera oversaw development of Apple’s MobileMe service, which allows users to synchronize desktop computers with other devices.

He will report to Thumbplay CEO and co-founder Evan Schwartz.
