As reported, consumers who purchase Windows Vista based computer after June 26, will get free upgrade to Windows 7. This step is a good indication that Microsoft is trying to convince consumers not to hold off purchasing PCs during the time period between when a new product is announced and when it’s actually available. It also indicates that Vista was really a doomed product from Microsoft.
The Windows 7 is expected to be available on Oct 22 with several versions like Starter Edition, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and for emerging markets - Home Basic. It is said to be considerably lighter and easier to use than its predecessors and also includes support for touchscreen and tools that will improve everyday tasks such as desktop searches and PC-to-PC file transfers. It also has some interesting touch intensive apps like Microsoft Surface Globe - a 3D map of earth that can be navigated using fingertips.
It also seems that Windows 7 will be available for pre-sales on June 26. Are you interested?
