Our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price

is how Apple defines its latest super-gadget. Apple’s promo doesn’t seem to generate any reactions, given the web is abuzz with iPad’s shortcomings. Most tech gurus have written off the device. Significantly, quick-witted Chris Pirillo had a barefaced opinion that read - it is nothing more than just an oversized iPod Touch. With such derisive reviews on iPad, Apple aficionados across the world might have a second thought on whether the tablet is really a wise investment. Well, despite no camera, no multi-tasking and no flash support, iPad sets a new category of tablet device that could creep into a specific group of audience with a taste for something different. Not just one or two, Apple iPad could have 10 solid reasons to sell heavily despite the modest features.

1. Presentation

With a sleek and chic look, iPad makes a great device for presentation and demos. With a sleek look complementing the multi-touch functionality, iPad is a perfect beauty to stage an marvelous  presentation. Remember Steve Jobs presentation at Apple press conference at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

2.  Apple Brand name

Now Apple “thinks different” and so it makes you think beyond what you can head trip pragmatically. Who on earth could ever conceptualize a multi-touch phone, if not though differently. iPhone goes with the slogan, “Touching is believing”. Apple sets the standards for quality and efficiency - iPad belongs to the same clan. More than anything, there’s a fan-club of die-hard Apple-buffs who can Peter out anything that Steve Jobs’ produces.

3. Timing for Launch

Steve Jobs is gifted with excellent sense of timing. With time Apple would find a solution to do multi-tasking in a less resources intensive way. One of the reasons for not introducing multi-tasking for iPad could be the dwindling sales of Macbook.

4.  Price to features: affordability

Every other other Apple freak is upset with the camera-less iTablet. Consider the price to features reciprocity, adding certain features would compromise its size and performance and bring down its unique selling proposition - portability and form factor. Apple’s iPhone has an edge over some of competing operating systems, which could explain the stance to compromise the performance hogging multitasking and Flash.  The price speaks for lack of features such as phone and camera.

5. Form factor

iPad might offer lower functionality than netbook, but it scores high on the form factor.  Due to the tablet form factor, Apple allows things that are not possible with a netbook. For instance, the availability of accelerometer on such big form factor will allow development of games such as F.A.S.T that detects the motion and positioning of the device to move a jet in the game. With a touchscreen and form factor opened up  media companies will have ample opportunities for development. The same cannot be dreamed about the netbook.

6. Huge ecosystem to thrive on

Apple has an iPhone app for almost everything possible. iPad has a huge ecosystem of iPhone apps to tap into. It includes web-browser, calendar and mapping system. The device also supports Apple’s iWork suite - word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. iPad makes a perfect entertainment device from day one of its launch. What’s most exciting the iPhone users will be able to share their application with their iPad, without having to pay any extra buck.

7. Excelling on eBook reading experience

Those who have still not bought a kindle, and  looking for an eBook reader iPad could be an excellent stuff. Clearly, who would for just a eBook reader when you have a feature-packed eBook reader at an affordable rate. iPad is always a better choice in the long run. It gives a full color display with great images and crispy text. The page turning feature is really cool. It’s a perfect device for reading eMagazines. 8. Portability as never before

Apple iPad is as portable as you can make it. You don’t require any table to set it. Think of a situation when your laptops is taken at airport, you can just sit on a chair and hold you laptop with just one hand. Moreover, if you can coordinate, you’ll be able to walk and work at the same time.

9. Unlimited 3G service plans on AT&T

No one seems to be satisfied with Apple for its decision to monopolize AT&T for its iPad, but the Cupertino company has reasons to blow smoke on its decision. Scoring over the netbook and an unlimited data plan, AT&T has a special deal to offer unlimited 3G data on 3G-capable versions of the iPad for $29.99 a month. Further, a 250MB plan will be available for half that at $14.99 a month. The activation can be availed right on the device, no hassles of store visits or calls. Still more it doesn’t involve a contract.

10. Targeting people who think differently

iPad defines a new category for device, which exists somewhere between netbooks and notebooks. By creating a device that combines a smartphone, new kind of PC or an e-book, iPad could allure a specific market segment without encroaching on Apple Macbook’s audience. The industry is still waiting to realize the category of device. Well, most techies would prefer to judge iPad against other tablets like HP slate or joojoo, but it has a set of well-defined features that carves it niche on its own.

Now you might have a reasons to go for a third tought before you finally decide to invest on iPad.
