The total population of U.S., Mexico and France is less that that of Facebook. The world’s largest social networking site announced that it has achieved the milestone of 500 million users. Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg thanked the users for creating such a worldwide movement.
“The company could have never imagined all of the ways people would use Facebook when we were getting started 6 years ago,” he continued.
In order to reach more people across the globe Facebook launched another application yesterday by the name Facebook Stories. The users will be able to tell their own stories using this application and they will also be able to read others’ post, filtered by theme and geographic location. The growth of Facebook is phenomenal because of the speed at which it touched the milestone. Facebook was launched in 2004 and it took them four years to reach 100 million users. On the contrary, it takes only five months for them to reach rest of the numbers. As per the study, 70% of its users come from outside USA.
