Google’s New App To Access Gmail Offline

The Web 2.0 technologies have taken the mobile usage to a new level. For the Apple iPhone 3G and Android users who have been accessing their Gmail accounts through Internet, can now do without internet. In an exciting revelation at the Mobile World Congress 2009 conference Vi Gundotra, Google’s VP of engineering exposed how Gmail can be accessed offline using a of mobile Gmail app. In a recent event, Google’s Grears app technology was enabled to for accessing the desktop version of Gmail without internet connectivity. Generally the web-based programs are not preferred over native mobile apps, but the new Gmail app for mobile could revolutionize the mobile world.
Description
Google restores its database and cache features. The app uses offline data storage standard HTML5. It will allow the mobile phone users to browse as well as read email, label messages and track email browsing offline. The offline application will not be able to retrieve new e-mails but it will synchronize with the network once the connection gets restored.
Demonstration of the Web app was also shown on iPhone 3G and HTC-Magic with Android. Not just these but other mobiles like Symbian S60 handsets using WebKit based browsers could use this version of Gmail.
Launch
Launch of the updated Gmail version has not yet been decided by Gmail. Still what’s important is that release of such high-tech web apps could give rise to more sophisticated, high-end Web-based applications for mobile platforms.
