How To Get Older Versions of WordPress

WordPress is a popular blogging software which is used in this blog and lot of blogs on the internet. One of the frequently asked questions was how can we get older versions of WordPress. Previously all we could get was the latest version using this link, which automatically links to the latest version of the software. Now we have a way, thanks to Matt Mullenweg, to get earlier versions of the software.

To get say 2.0.5 version of the software use the link https://wordpress.org/latest-2.0.5.zip. The md5 checksum for the corresponding version is available at this link https://wordpress.org/md5-2.0.5.
Substitute 2.0.5 with your desired version number.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find 1.5.x versions with this mechanism. So it appears this works for only 2.x versions at this time.
