India In Brief On The Republic Day

1. Goldman Sacks predicts India will beat US by 2050, lagging only behind China in economy. I think it will be much sooner.

2. Moninder Singh Pandher, accused cannibal and serial killer of several dozens of children and teenagers, and his man Friday got lynched by lawyers in court premises. Talk about lawyers taking law in their own hands. Moninder richly deserved it however.

Moninder’s incident casts a very bad light on our law and order situation. How many children does it take (to get lost / killed) before authorities take notice? They failed to do anything even after several dozens went missing over a period of three years or less.

3.1. Vengsarkar finally brought some sanity to Indian cricket selection committee. Indian cricket will be much saner place after they gid rid of the evil troika; More is gone, Rahul & Greg should be next.

3.2 Chappal got a taste of his own medicine in two doses. Gavaskar said what was on everybody’s mind; even Chappal’s underhanded tactics couldn’t put Sourav down for long; and now it is Sourav who can save Greg’s arse, what an irony! Orissa on the other hand did what Bengal failed to do.

The gut and gumption shown by Sourav is worth emulating.
BTW: Ravi did an amazing 180 degree turn on Sourav; he should be in politics.

3.3 My scoresheet on some Indian cricket seniors for their honesty and character:
Da man / rocks:
Gavaskar & Sidhu

Sucks / Arse kisser:
Shastri, More & Dungarpur

Note: Coincidentally their career performance also falls in the same category.

4. In sports, in technology and in almost every sphere of life India is experiencing a renaissance. If only the government could move out of the way and let India rise on its own…

5. In conclusion:
Even I can, with my simple untrained eyes, see that India is truly rising, a new strength and confidence is coursing through her body. I know Swamiji’s prediction 100 years ago will come to fruition; it cannot be any other way.
