JDJ / Sys-Con Media Forces Podcasts on Web Surfers

I was reading about Data Mining from Sys-Con. Suddenly out of nowhere I was part of a strange discussion. It was initially barely audible (trying subliminal techniques?). On increasing the volume I realized someone was utilizing my bandwidth to serve me with information that I didn’t ask for.

Upon investigation I realized that Sys-Con Media is forcing podcasts on the web surfers. It plays automatically when you browse their pages. Yes, there is an option to shut it off. However often it is hard to realize who is the perpetrator as there may be several browser tabs open as is usually with me.

There is something inherently wrong with this picture. It felt very intrusive and startling. Sys-con isn’t going to make lots of friends with this move.

If you want to visit Sys-Con and do not want their invasive podcasts then disable Flash before you load their page. Firefox users can use PrefBar extension for easily disabling Flash with a single click.
