Keyboard Shortcuts to Merge, Change and Save Large MS Word Documents
By Angsuman Chakraborty, Gaea News NetworkTuesday, March 17, 2009
My friend was merging some changes in a large Microsoft word document the other day. He opened the the BASE MS Word document (the document where the changes were originally made from) and then used the Compare and Merge Documents… functionality (located under the Tools Menu) to compare it to the document that had the new changes. Now, there is a service called track changes in Microsoft word by which you can store the hundreds of changes you make manually to the document. Now while saving it, we encountered this big problem. We didn’t have a accept all button. and so my friend had to go through almost 100 clicks one by one, to save change and finally complete the document. What a waste of time. What if I give you a single shortcut-key combination by which you can do it in 10 seconds?
AcceptAllChangesInDoc
o CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + !
* AcceptChangesSelected
o CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + SPACE
* RejectChangesSelected
o CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + DEL
* NextChangeOrComment
o CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + n
* PreviousChangeOrComment
o CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + p

I learned you first compare and merge via the tools drop down menu, and then a small toolbar appears on the top with a paper/pencil/checkmark icon. Select that, and select accept all changes from the drop down menu. I tried the keyboard shortcut and it didn’t work, but thanks anyhow! |
