Nokia CEO Kallasvuo upbeat but concedes problems
HELSINKI — Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo says the world’s top handset maker expects success to continue but concedes it still has “plenty of work to do” as its share price continues a two-week slide.
Kallasvuo says 2010 is a key year for the Finland-based firm after it emerges from a difficult 2009 that hit operating profit and earnings.
Kallasvuo said Nokia plans to launch new devices this year to “help close the gap with the competition” in smart phones.
The Nokia chief was talking to shareholders Thursday, two weeks after the company released first-quarter results that failed to impress markets and caused its stock to plunge.
