Overview
I had the pleasure to see the demo of Socialtext 3.0, an Evidence Management Software for Corporate houses and I am happy to share my experience with all readers. Socialtext Incorporated is a company based in Palo Alto, California that produces enterprise social software, including a wiki-centric software platform.
The focus of Socialtext Incorporated is to enable people within a company to collaborate and share information with one another. The company’s productivity is increased with the help of this tool. Socialtext offers its solution as a hosted service or appliances.
Features:
- Socialtext Dashboard: Provides personalized and customized dashboards to manage internal and external social network updates, conversations, data, and applications. The alert feed of your colleagues’ activity provides attention in terms of work and relevance. Socialtext Dashboard supports the OpenSocial gadget standard. So, Users can select widgets from a large library provided by Socialtext or from third parties, and arrange them with an easy drag-and-drop interface.
- Socialtext People:
It is a people directory extended with social networking features. You can find contact information for your colleagues, find out people with expertise and common interests, and valuable information through your social connections. Socialtext People is an optional tool of the Socialtext Social Software. Tagging enables users to share interest and expertise on their profile and others’ profiles. Profiles are made visible with the help of Socialtext wiki, so, at any time, you can locate the people behind the content. The tool further enables integration with LDAP and Active Directory means companies and makes their corporate directories social. - Socialtext Workspace: Socialtext Workspaces enables you to collaborate with colleagues. You can organize information, write together, share plans and ideas. You can create any number of workspaces. By default, all workspaces are private, and every user needs to log in to see the content. Workspaces can also be made public.
Conclusion:
Socialtext provides good management features and value by means of their on line Collaboration tools. The company will now partner with IT departments and business managers to help implement wikis and other applications in a more useful way.
