After Bing’s fiasco over pornographic videos its ace search engine Google’s turn to face the wrath. Chinese Internet sentinel codenamed the Chinese-language version of Google was accused for disseminating pornographic and vulgar information. The China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center has already beefed Goolge about the pornographic and vulgar links on its search engine for chinese- www.google.cn. It urged Google to carry-out a thorough clean-up of its web pages and also requested the authorities to take stern action against the company.
The center in the report complained that Google China has not conducted the oversight according to China’s laws and regulations. Earlier, Google and other websites have been publicly disgraced for not taking any quick action to remove the alleged contents.
According to the analysts, the Internet crackdown is another step towards Communist Party’s battle curb-down dissent in a year of sensitive anniversaries that includes 20th anniversary of government’s crackdown on the pro-democracy Tiananmen Square protests in 1989.
Recently, the Chinese government had ordered all the new PCs to incorporate Internet filtering software to block pornographic content. This was in tandem with Chinese governments campaign to bar children from viewing unhealthy content. Clearly, China is in no mood to tolerate Google’s negligence towards unethical content on its web pages.

Interesting… I might try some of this on my blog, too. It’s quite interesting how you sometimes stop being innovative and just go for an accepted solution without actually trying to improve it… you make a couple of good points. |
