5 Points to Remember for Facebook Personalized URL

Voila! Facebook has allowed the users to register custom usernames from 12:01 a.m. EDT Saturday onwards. The new Facebook feature will allow you to create custom URL. This is the time to grab your own Facebook URL. Hurry! it’s like a limited stock offer and the usernames are bound to go fast and if you ponder for a bit too long, you might land up empty- handed. Still worse how about a knee-slapper JZEBRAOz54322. It’s not an easy game all the way. I have devised some tips that will help you out with what all Facebook aficionados are doing.
1. Be the first one
The usernames will be allotted on first come first serve basis. So try to be the first one in the queue to grab something like johnhenderson.
2. Once you take a name its for you forever
Each of the accounts can get only one username and you can never change it. The name can be transferred to someone else. Now, if at any point of time you wanna kill the name it won’t get back to the pool.
3. At least five character
Your Facebook username must have at least five characters in length. The entries can contain letters, numbers, and a period. Don’t try special characters like #@%, that’ll just waste your time.
4. No generic names
Blah! are thinking of generic words, you won’t get the for usernames. Although Facebook doesn’t provide a list of generic terms there are a few hints like pizza and flowers.
5. Don’t use your real name
Facebook seems to encourage the real names. The system would suggest a few available options based on your first or last name. For more it also provides a blank field in which you can add something completely unrelated.

I think it would be pretty cool if you use your name, just as long as that name is unique. I hope someday Facebook will also allow changing the URL. There are social networking sites that allow such, and I think Facebook is more capable and popular than those sites. |
